Calling small house dwellers, builders and designers

Do you remember our recent post about what you want on Small House Style? Well the results are in.

We all enjoy the dream houses that get featured here on Small House Style and other sites around the web but we hear you loud and clear: you want more posts about ‘real life’ small house experiences – small, modern, affordable residential housing like Pedro de la Montaña’s.

Got plans, book reviews, small house space saving ideas (small apartments, small cabins, yurts and others work too)? Are you using gadgets and hacks that can make small space living practical and fun? Are you a designer with a real world small house application? We are looking for submissions on anything small house and design.

Let’s shoot for 1,200 sq. ft. and smaller but if you feel like you have something you must share send it anyway!

    Hi! We have been living in our 600 square foot home on a 1500 square foot lot for almost 20 years. We raised our daughter here, then we began to look at ways to improve our retirement years. We put in solar hot water, and solar electric. We currently make more electricity than we can use. We practice water harvesting and have two 205 gallon pillar tanks in the front yard which look actually very nice. In addition we have an edible landscape. A small worm farm takes care of our wet trash. We’ve got mirrors and solartube in kitchen which opens up the place. Most people can’t believe it’s only 600 square feet. We have a three person infrared sauna in the front bedroom which we use daily. If you would like to see pictures or talk to us about our little place, please call 619 584 2683. The Dolphins

    I have just completed my first urban infill small house located in Nashville, TN. We have 3 more under construction and hope to build 10-15 Per year going forward. Below is a link to the slideshow or visit my website at http://www.kudzuhomes.com

    Asking Price = $129,900 (this assumes a $25K lot value as is the case on this one)

    Size = 910 sqft with 2 Bedrooms and 2 Full Bathrooms

    Location = Nashville, TN

    Finishes = Stained Concrete Floors, Granite Counters, Tile Backsplash, Upgraded Lighting, Large bedrooms, Flex Space, Full sized W/D, 9ft Ceilings

    Why = I have been renovating for years in urban markets of Nashville, but saw a need that design a super efficient new construction home that could be sold at a price point affordable by virtually all first time home buyers. A 50+ year only house is not right for everyone, this is a low maintenance home that is move in ready in every way.

    As of this post, we are the only small house builder in Nashville focused on providing value added homes geared to first time buyers in Urban Nashville infill locations.
