This fast-paced, almost* fact-filled, and most importantly, SIMPLE look at the materials economy is a must see for anyone interested in or concerned with the connections between environmental and social issues and creating a more sustainable and just world. Some gentle doom and gloom at the beginning but the end is where it is at – we can fix this thing and many people are working hard to do so.
Watch The Story of STUFF.

Forward this 20-minute gem to everyone you know from students to teachers, CEOs to street sweepers – it may change the way they look at stuff forever.

“Wingardhs is committed to the artistic and poetic dimensions of architecture.”

Wingardhs Mill House in Vastra Karup, Sweden is a manifestation of the Swedish ritual of sauna and bathing.
Well I think they nailed this one. This house probably cost a pretty penny (therefore not an option for most of the people on the planet) but I couldn’t resist posting it due to the sheer beauty of it.
This place is basically a small vacation house with a sauna and an adjacent pool for the post-sauna-dip. I could live this way. How about you?

We’ve been working hard on the design of Small House Style all the while wondering when we would launch the site and make our first post. Well, today is the day. John at Future House Now posted about Small House Style this morning. FHN has been on our radar screen for a while and it is a great source of information if you want to learn about “better living in family homes that are affordable, modern, efficient, healthy, environmentally responsible and available today.” We can’t say enough about FHN. Same goes for materialicious and TreeHugger. Life wouldn’t be the same without them.
Come back often. We will have things up and running in no time. Oh, feel free to comment and/or send us anything you see out there that looks like it would fit well on Small House Style. Email editor [at] smallhousestyle [dot] com.
Thanks, we really appreciate your input!
